I discovered the awesome site They Draw and Travel from another great blog, The Explorer’s Notebook (News from the Interimaginational Institute for Fantastical Exploration & Cartography). The site was created by siblings Nate Padavick and Salli Swindell.
Each map is one-of-a-kind, highlighting off-the-beaten path sites and activities that are local favorites. You won’t find anything like this in a guidebook! Whether you’re planning your next trip, reminiscing about places you’ve been or dreaming about places you want to go one day, we hope you’ll find They Draw & Travel inspiring, useful and FUN!
Artists submit maps they’ve created from all around the world. Some are specific to a city or region, like these maps of Europe, Bay of Fundy in New Brunswick, Jaffa, Israel, and this map of my hometown of Portland, created by Jennifer Reynolds:
I recommend spending some time to poke around. The maps are fun, and beautiful to boot! If maps aren’t your thing, maybe you’ll enjoy their sister site: They Draw and Cook.
